summer fashion trend: asian prints

m- Time to rave about Courtney!! Courtney really knows how to do it. All around. I've watched Courtney grow into this chameleon of fashion and I couldn't be more proud to work with this gal. What a gal, this one. Here are some pictures that we snagged South of Broad in Charleston, South Carolina, on one of our much loved Lori visits.
Clothes with Asian influence will soon be all the rage, or at least should be. Since Hawiaan and tropical prints have been HUGE, we decided to take it even further past the islands and to the great islands of the Orient. Courtney and I are trying it out. This PHENOMENAL Oriental piece is full of extreme detail and color. Members of the party on this dress include the prince, his princess, and a UNICORN. This is like...hipster done right. Vintage silk teal and orange tunic? Yes please.
Excuse the kitschy, Gilligan's Island prop; Lori and I were both thinking Gilligan this week. This shirt is glorious. Another vintage piece from Lori's collection, this shirt is so freaking cool. You cant see it, but the buttons are bronze and adorned in Japanese symbols. Asian is in!
Thanks always, Half United for the bullet necklaces!
This bullet is perfect for the Gilligan, military, vibe we were channeling that day.
This was one of those moments (at three in the morning) where Courtney and I find a piece in Lori's collection that make us want to pass out. Pass out, I tell you. This KIMONO. Fact: this kimono is seven feet long. Fact: this kimono is made of silk, hand stitched, and COVERED IN A PEACOCK. A white peacock. Look at the sleeves. And the detail. I mean...Asian is in.
Let's take it to the Orient.

The road less traveled.

m- There is something special about seeing an old friend, when reuniting is incredibly overdue. Every exciting moment from the past replays in your mind like the highlights of your favorite television show or that dramatic scene towards the end of the movie which gives your eyes second-glimpses of important flashing scenes from before. This particular moment was no exception....well, without Hollywood's flashing effects worthy of invoking seizures.
This weekend I visited Jacob. And I couldnt be more excited about it.
After four and a half hours of rolling hills, I finally made it to the Hokie stones of Virginia Tech.
Whether Jacob will admit it or not, he has a great style of his own.
Definitely influenced by his mountainous environment, Jacob dresses in subtle tones of natural colors that parallel his chill and inviting personality. Dressing to the environment is something that Courtney and I value immensely. When you travel someplace new, don't change your style,
but make it your own with respects to the place you've visited.
We see it as a challenge to better suit ourselves for the new atmosphere around us.
This picture doesn't really do these puppies justice BUT I snagged these shorts from
Topman in Soho last trip to New York and I really haven't taken them off since.
The print reminds me of Barcelona for some reason...
derived maybe from the beach umbrellas that lined the Mediterranean?
It reminds me also of the Barcelona Print at American Apparel.
On Saturday, Jacob served as my guide as we hiked an AMAZING trail through the woods to the Cascades. The woods were really a treat. So incredibly lush with life...massive with beauty.

These pink flowers were falling from the canopy above and seemed even more frail against the hard, jagged rocks and plunging water.
My suit may have been a little too "beach" for the mountains but it got the job done. I got this guy at H&M the week before for just 15 bucks.
Found this American Flag watch at a Goodwill in West Virginia. Five bucks.
One of the last times Jacob and I were together, Jacob bought this kick-ass bag in Brooklyn.
Perfect for Jacob, the dark leather and brown canvas
 compliments his natural aesthetic.

Mickey Mouse Tank

c- "Honey, I'm home!!!"
The energy generated by Michael arriving at my place in Wilmington has become a sign that awakens senses and kicks Fresh & Precious into full gear. With college coming to an end and real life jumping in our faces, time together for magic making is limited. Sad panda :(
DIY, DIY, DIY....
....we get it.
Michael turned this Walt Disney Mickey Mouse shirt into an appropriate tank for summer!
take an old t-shirt you still like the design on, cut out the neck and arm holes...you now have a new summer tank.  Easily paired with classic denim shorts, white sneaks, and a pair of funky socks.
My favorite perfectly pointy glasses are back, bun in tact, and I'm ready to go! It's rather inevitable that Michael and I are dressed alike-- for some reason that always happens.
Great minds think alike?
Mickey Mouse tank top. Glorious.
I love this street in Wilmington. The backdrop is either a mystical forest or a colored house with beachy character. It's hard not to fall in love with Wilmington even more with every stroll down the street.

Take a look at more Mickey Mouse fun here.
